after my most watched actress of 2025 was Anna Kendrick due to her appearances in the Trolls & Twilight series, 2026 is the year that I attempt to watch good movies that are meaningful to me !

July 2026

Dr. T & the Women (2002) - We bought this as a joke from the thrift store because of the absurd title / movie cover, but it was actually an incredibly strange & good film.

The Ramen Girl (2008)

Hour of the Wolf (1968) — Movie date, but couldn't lay my head on his shoulder because the seat in front of me blocked the subtitles.

Batman Forver (1995) - Rae's birthday.

The Ring (2002)

Daisies (1966)

Oslo, August 31 (2011)

Chloe & Theo (2015)

June 2026

The Matrix (1999)

Backrooms (2026)

The Amazing Digital Circus - Bad.

Call Me By Your Name (2017) - Not as bad as I remember but can't fully get behind it due to how the age difference is handled. Good summer feeling though.

8 1/2 (1963)

The Passion of Darkly Noon (1995) - I need to be doing way more with my art.

May 2026

A Complete Unknown (2024) - Complete mediocrity. This has no reason to exist. Went into the movie knowing very little about Bob Dylan. Left the movie knowing very little about Bob Dylan except I also like him less now. I watched Timothee Chalamet / Bob Dylan stare vacantly / openmouthed / expressionlessly as he sang songs in a colorless 60s setting. (I guess colors weren't invented until after the electric guitar . . .) Then I watched his love interests stare at him somewhat tearfully. Then I watched him sing again. This went on until the almost two and a half hour movie ended.

71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance (1994)

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie (2025)

The White Ribbin (2009) — An unmysterious mystery in regards to both the events of the film & the idea of evil. Unsuccessful movie that seemed to be a reiteration of Benny's Video (1992), which I also didn't like. It feels as though I accidentally watched Haneke's best movies first. Maybe the first movie I watched w/ Rae & not w/ Mary.

Mother's Day (2016) — Don't really know how to justify this while I have a huge stack of unwatched library DVDs . . . We didn't even watch it on Mother's Day. The fact that this was the director's last film greatly disquiets me & makes me contemplate my own work.

April 2026

Grizzly Man (2005)

Belle de Jour (1977)

March 2026

Benny's Video (1992) — Disliked. Surprised that this came after The Seventh Continent given how juvenile it was.

Spring Breakers (2012) — Still unsure why Rae likes Harmony Korine so much.

The Seventh Continent (1989)

Godland (2022) — Vacuous movie.

Project Hail Mary (2026) — Movie theatre w/ Mary, spring break, fun.

Persona (1966) — Least favorite Bergman so far, but good movie.

I Saw the TV Glow (2024) — Director's commentary w/ Mary.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011) — Didn't like.

February 2026

Train Dreams (2025) — Unimpressive.

Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) — Part of the convoluted interconnected love story ensemble-cast film niche, à la Love the Coopers (2015) & Garry Marshall's Valentine's Day (2010) / New Year's Eve (2011).

The Seventh Seal (1957)

The Room (2003)

Autumn Sonata (1978)

Some Girl(s) (2013) — Trash.

Iron Lung (2026)

Some Velvet Morning (2013)

The Lego Movie (2014)

January 2026

I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)

No Other Choice (2025)

Another Round (2020)

Synechdoche, New York (2008)

Marty Supreme (2025)

Kindergarten Cop (1990)

Twin Peaks: The Return (2017)

Ordet (1955)

The Piano Teacher (2002)

The Hudsucker Proxy (1994)
